Tillman W. McCarty Family.
This website was created to further the research of the McCarty clan - espcially those of us descended from Tillman (Till) Watson McCarty (b.7 Nov 1824, Edgefield County, SC d.24 Oct 1893, Fannin, MS) and his wife Sarah Jane Lovelace/Loveless (b.14 Mar 1831 Georgia d.2 Jan 1892 Fannin, MS). It is believed that Tillman is descended from Philip Michael McCarty (b.21 Jul 1791, Edgefield County, SC d.16 Jul 1879, Dale County, AL), Michael McCarty [II] (b.1754 d. 1843), Michael McCarty [I] (b.1732). It is believed that Michael I came from Cork County, Ireland, although we have not been able to confirm that.

They lived in Sioux City, Marietta, Ga., Carmel, Ind., Chicago, Ill., and Round Rock, Texas, before moving to Arlington in 1996. We celebrate our family with a family reunion every June - usually the second weekend. Our next reunion will be June 10-12, 2016 at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites South, 2421 ESE Loop 323, Tyler, TX 75701, 903-566-0600. Hope to see you there!
A meeting was held in 1961 in Philadelphia, Mississippi to discuss the possibility of holding a reunion, and the first one was held in 1962 and there has been one every year since that time. We elect a vice-president each year to assist the president the first year and then be in complete charge of the reunion the following year. Our president is Amanda (Ward) Walling and our vice-president is Lacy Lansford .
As this site grows, we hope to include various pictues from past reunions, as well as some of the MANY stories that abound about our ancestors. Please let us know if there is anything specific that you would like to see here. After all - this is YOUR page too!
