2078. John Sion Jeter McCarty (200) was born April 8, 1833 in Edgefield, South Carolina. He was a twin to No. 2285. Jeter died January 16, 1909 and is buried at Caps, Taylor County, Texas. He married Georgia Virginia (Jackie) Brown in Dale County, Alabama, January 24, 1860. She was born September 18, 1839 and died October 9, 1882 at Clio, Alabama. Jeter was named for his uncle, Sion Mitchell of Edgefield, South Carolina.

When the "gold" rush was on in Florida, Jeter moved there, taking all of his family along, about 1877. On child, Izora, died there, and the entire family came down with the fever. As soon as they were able, they returned to Alabama. Children: James Edgar, Joseph Edwin, Cora Virginia, Mollie Izora, Philip Jeter (Pet).

Jeter married, second, Mrs. Mattie (Robinson) Camp about 1884 in Alabama. Mrs. Camp had several children when she married Jeter. Mattie and Jeter separated soon after their baby girl was born, and the three sets of children were lost to each other for many years. Mattie died October, 1899 at Dothan, Alabama. Child: Tippy. 2079. James Edgar McCarty (2078) was born January 15, 1861 in Dale County, Alabama, and died January 15, 1936, his seventy-fifth birthday. He is buried at Caps, Texas. He married, first, Lena Eugene Averett, his first cousin October 16, 1885 in Dale County, Alabama. See No. 2811. She was born February 26, 1865 in Dale County and died November 1, 1901. She is buried at Alto, Texas. Edgar and Lena came to Texas about 1895. Children: Philip Edwin, Thomas Edgar, Georgia Clyde, Mary Virginia, Ludie Estelle, Jeter Sion, Lena P.

Edgar married, second, Lena Pearl Moore in 1902. She was born February 26, 1882 at Athens. Texas, the daughter of James W. More and Sarah McNiece Moore. Children: Lawrence, Izora, Willie Pearl, Mable Adell, Vera, Bob Brady, Ruth Cash, Cleo, Ruby Florence, infant, Sybil Agnes, Laura Gertrude, Oleta Frances.

2080. Joseph Edwin McCarty (2078) was born about 1864 and died February 12, 1900. He is buried in City Cemetery, Milton, Florida. He married Lavada Brown. After Edwin's death his widow married a Mr. Dreggers. Both are buried beside Edwin at Milton. Children: Charlie, Triffie.

2081. Cora Virginia McCarty (2078) was born February 21, 1866 in Dale County, Alabama, and died December 15, 1932. She is buried at Cool Springs, Coffee County, Alabama. She married William Jordon Watson November 25, 1886 in Geneva County, Alabama. He was born June 3, 1860 in Geneva County and died October 25, 1916. He is buried at Cool Springs. Children: Jeter Lavada, Robert Floyd, George Dewey, Lillian Izora, J. V. Cora married, second, John Lunsford about 1924. He died in 1925 and is buried at Bethel Church, Enterprise, Alabama. No children. She married, third, a Mr. Layton. No children.

2082. Mollie Izora (Polly) McCarty (2078) was born June 15, 1858 in Dale County, Alabama, and died about 1877. She is buried at Marianna, Florida.

2083. Philip Jeter (Pet) McCarty (2078), a daughter, was born February 19, 1871 in Dale County, Alabama, and died June 4, 1959. She is buried at Old Palestine Church, Lenwood Community, Alto, Texas, beside her husband. She was named Philip for her grandfather and Jeter for her father. She remembered that her grandfather gave her a pony, a cow, and a calf. After Pet's mother died, she lived with her father's twin sister Sophronia Averett. She married at her aunt's home December 13, 1890 at Daleville, Alabama, to Green Hillary Maynard. He was born December 25, 1871 in Alabama, and died October 11, 1939. He is buried at Old Palestine Church at Alto, Texas. After his death Pet and her unmarried son Cody lived on their old farm until her death in 1959. Children: Eloise, Iveson Jeter, Aubrey Green, Gamette Cody, Grady Pride, Verna Corise.
