He married Amanda Smith about 1855 or 1856 in Dale County, Alabama. She was born in Dale County in 1842. She died March 15, 1904 and is buried in the McCarty Cemetery near Ozark and Daleville, Alabama. Children: Thomas Randall.

Thomas Randall (Buck) McCarty (2786) was christened Philip Randall, and his name so appears in the 1870 census and also in the will of his grandfather, Judge Philip McCarty, drawn June 7, 1879, just before the Judge's death. "----and my said son, James McCarty, is to take care and support my beloved wife Mary and Amanda C. McCarty, the widow of Thomas R. McCarty, and my grandson Philip R. McCarty, the son of Thomas R. McCarty, during their natural life." Amanda and her son lived in the house with James and his wife and his mother Mary until the death of both Mary and the first wife of James. When James married the second time, they all had to "clear out."

Thomas Randall married Genada Bell Lloyd April 5, 1890 in Dale County, Alabama. He was born July 14, 1857 in Dale County, and died December 23, 1907. He is buried in the McCarty Cemetery near Ozark, Dale County, Alabama. She was born April 11, 1871 in Dale County and died September 21, 1943. She is buried in Muscogee County, Georgia. They had nine children: William Fennah, James Worth, Irby Clifton, Fern Armand, Thomas Ewell, Fitzgerald, John Ivo, Mary Belle, Bell.

2788. William Fennah McCarty (2787) was born December 18, 1890 in Dale County, Alabama. He died of multiple sclerosis in Florida July 3, 1953. Unmarried.

2789. James Worth McCarty (2787) married Eva M. Grace, his half second cousin once removed, July 21, 1918 at Macon, Georgia. He was born January 13, 1892 in Dale County, Alabama, and she was born January 5, 1891 in Pike County, Alabama. Children: James Ferrell, Frank Wingate, Vernon Jackson, Ewell Fern.

2790. Irby Clifton McCarty (2787) was born November 22, 1894 in Dale County, Alabama. He married Jessie Stephens in 1916 in Coffee County, Alabama. He died in 1917 and is buried in Dale County.

2791. Fern Armand McCarty (2787) was born January 11, 1896 at Enterprise, Alabama. He married Nellie Fay Wilson January 4, 1923 in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania. She was born at Dothan, Alabama. Fern died February 27, 1957 and is buried in Riverdate Cemetery, Columbus, Georgia. He was a Seventh-Day Adventist. Fern and Fay have four sons and one daughter. The daughter, Gail, married a man named Carbin, but they are divorced. The boys are Ray Armand, Gibson, David, Gene. No other information about this family is available except about Ray Armand.

2792. Fitzgerald McCarty (2787) was born August 13, 1898 in Dale County, Alabama. He died September 17, 1908 and is buried in Dale County.

2793. Thomas Ewell McCarty (2787) married Annie Ruth Grace June 1, 1929 in Pike County, Alabama. He was born July 18, 1900 in Daleville, Alabama. She was born August 26, 1905 in Pike County. Thomas died September 8, 1947 and is buried at Columbus, Georgia. Children: Thomas Ivo, Emma Jean, Betty Evelyn, John Earl.

2798. Frank Wingate McCarty (2789) was born July 18, 1921 at Columbus, Georgia. He married Nona Leatherwood April 22, 1945 at Goshen, Alabama. She was born September 22, 1914 at Natasulga, Alabama. Frank Wingate died September 22, 1950 while in the service of his country as a career man. He is buried at Columbus, Georgia. Nona is a teacher in the public schools of Columbus, Georgia. No children.

2800. Ewell Fern McCarty (2789) was born January 29, 1927 in Pike County, Alabama. He died March 1, 1936 in Pike County.

Shelia Radford Sumpter married Glenn Roy Sumpter III and they have one daughter, Nichole Lee Sumpter and reside in Haywood County, North Carolina.
